Polystyrene (Polystyrene, PS for short) refers to a polymer synthesized from a styrene monomer through a radical addition polymerization reaction. It is a colorless and transparent thermoplastic with a glass transition temperature above 100 ° C.
Polystyrene is colorless and transparent, can be colored freely, and its relative density is second only to PP and PE. It has excellent electrical properties, especially good high frequency characteristics, second to F-4 and PPO. In addition, it is second only to methacrylic resin in terms of light stability, but its radiation resistance is the strongest among all plastics. The most important feature of polystyrene is that it has very good thermal stability and fluidity during melting, so it is easy to mold and process, especially injection molding, which is suitable for mass production. The molding shrinkage is small, and the molded product has good dimensional stability.
Polystyrene is easy to process and has the advantages of transparency, cheapness, rigidity, insulation, and good printability. Can be widely used in the light industry market, daily decoration, lighting instructions and packaging. In the electrical aspect, it is a good insulation material and heat insulation material. It can be used to make various instrument housings, lampshades, optical chemical instrument parts, transparent films, capacitor dielectric layers, etc.
Can be used in powder and emulsion cosmetics. It has good compressibility and can improve the adhesion of powder. Gives skin luster and lubricity, and is an advanced filler that replaces talc and silica.
