Non-asbestos friction material(NAO)
Non-asbestos organic friction material (NAO) brake pads mainly use glass fiber, aromatic polyacrylic fiber or other fibers (carbon, ceramic, etc.) as the reinforcing material, and its performance mainly depends on the type of fiber and other added mixtures.

Asbestos-free organic friction materials are mainly developed as substitutes for asbestos for brake drums or brake shoes, but they have also recently begun to be used as alternatives to front disc brake pads. In terms of performance, NAO brake pads are closer to asbestos brake pads than to semi-metal brake pads. It does not have good thermal conductivity and good high-temperature controllability like semi-metal brake pads. The materials of NAO brake pads have undergone several changes. Now NAO materials have effectively exceeded the performance of asbestos brake pads in many aspects, mainly in terms of anti-friction performance and noise. The service life of NAO brake pads is significantly longer than that of asbestos brake pads, and it is also beneficial to extend the service life of brake drums and discs.
