Definition

A DC generator is a device that converts mechanical energy into DC electrical energy. It is mainly used as DC motor for DC motor, electrolysis, electroplating, electric smelting, charging and excitation of AC generator.

Features

5.The AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) not only can smooth the output but also can provide reasonable protec-tion against the overload of the whole set, thus avoid damage to the set.

6.Waveform distortion is kept at a minimum level and the output is stable. The winding design protects the generator from short circuits and provides a stable output while running inductive loads.

7.On the inheriting of the original general-purpose generator set, VLAIS diesel generator sets with digital control panel can be equipped with a made ATS(automatic transfer switch). ATS, in its preset intervals, can automatically check and monitor the running of the genset to ensure the genset in good working condition. Meanwhile, ATS will monitor the utility power, if utility power fails or the voltage and frequency of the utility power become abnormal, ATS will give commands to start the genset automatically.

Function and benefits

Although DC rectifiers are also used in places where DC power is needed, AC power is converted into DC power. However, from the perspective of ease of use, operational reliability, and some performance, DC motors are not yet comparable to AC generators. The DC generator has a better potential waveform and less electromagnetic interference, but because of the presence of a commutator, its manufacturing and maintenance are complicated and the price is high.

The working principle of the DC generator is to convert the alternating electromotive force generated in the armature coil by the commutator with the commutation effect of the brush to make it become a DC electromotive force when it is pulled out from the brush end because the brush A passes the commutation. The electromotive force drawn from the sheet is always the electromotive force in the coil edge that cuts the N-pole magnetic field lines. Therefore, brush A always has positive polarity. Similarly, brush B always has negative polarity. Therefore, the brush end can lead to a pulsating electromotive force with a constant direction but a change in size.
