Tank Containers

In addition to all the advantages of containerized transportation, tank containers have many advantages such as economical, fast, safe, environmentally friendly, and aesthetically pleasing, compared with the transportation method of "several barrels packed into a standard dry container".

Definitions and materials

Tank container is a stainless steel pressure vessel installed in a fastened outer frame. The tank liner is mostly made of 316 stainless steel. Most tanks have steam or electric heating devices, inert gas protection devices, decompression devices, and other optional equipment for fluid transportation and handling.

Containers for liquid goods such as alcohol, oil, liquid food, and chemicals. It is mainly composed of a liquid tank and a frame. The liquid tank is oval or approximately spherical and adopts a double-layer structure. The inner wall is made of stainless steel; or made of other rigid materials, but need to be coated with an epoxy resin to prevent corrosion of liquid cargo. The outer wall is made of thermal insulation material. Generally, there is a round loading port on the tank top and a discharge valve on the tank bottom. There are several types of high-pressure liquid tank, low-pressure liquid tank, thermal insulation liquid tank, liquid tank with heating device, and so on. The frame is made of high-strength steel, and the liquid tank is placed in the middle of the frame. Tank container handling operations, loading, unloading, and storage all require a special place and are equipped with special fire safety equipment.

Classification

(1) IMO 0 type
Ship non-dangerous goods, non-toxic and non-corrosive goods, goods outside the international enforcement agency’s embargo list, liquid foods with a flash point exceeding 61 ° C, but alcoholic beverages with a flash point above 21 ° C or an alcohol content of more than 25% It should be shipped in an IMO Type 1 tank container and discharged from the tank bottom.

(Two) IMO Type 1
Dangerous goods tanks, the maximum allowable working pressure is 1.75 bar or more, the liquid chemicals with flash point below 0 ° C, certain toxic or highly corrosive chemicals, spontaneous combustible goods, goods that can cause danger when wet, Self-oxidized cargo, liquid cargo whose sealing pressure does not exceed the allowable pressure of the tank. For tanks carrying corrosive and unstable cargo, special steel should be used and the necessary lining should be considered. The sum of the internal water vapor pressure and other partial pressures resulting from this and the 0.35 kg / cm² must not exceed the design pressure of the tank. Materials can be discharged from the tank bottom or tank top.

(Three) IMO Type 2
For sub-dangerous cargo tanks, the maximum allowable working pressure is greater than 1.0 bar and less than 1.75 bar, and the liquids with a flash point of 0 ° C to 61 ° C without other dangers, and certain chemicals with low risk, toxicity or corrosiveness 2. Liquid cargoes with a sealing pressure lower than 172.4 kPa but not exceeding the allowable working pressure of the tank shall be discharged from the bottom of the tank.

(IV) IMO Type 4
Road tanker with type 1 or type 2 boxes.

(5) IMO Type 5
Liquid gas tanks are used to transport non-refrigerated liquefied gas or chemicals at low temperature and normal temperature, which are discharged from the bottom of the tank.

(6) IMO Type 6
Road tanker with type 5 box.

(VII) IMO 7 type
Refrigerated liquefied gas tanks with heat insulation layer are used to load refrigerated liquefied gas or low temperature liquefied gas and liquid perishable goods that require temperature control.

(Eight) IMO Type 8
Road tanker with type 7 box.

Function and characteristics

In addition to all the advantages of containerized transportation, it has many advantages such as economical, fast, safe, environmentally friendly, and beautiful compared with the transportation method of “several drums loaded into a standard dry container”.
First, economic benefits:
For example, a 20-foot container (24,000 liters) can hold 45% more liquid cargo than a standard 20-foot dry container full of drums. That is, “same shipping cost and more shipments” thereby reducing the ground and ocean freight costs per unit of cargo. In addition, the use of tanks can save the cost of disposal of drums. These are two direct cost savings in transportation.

Second, fast:
The use of tanks does not require the expensive and time-consuming process of barrel loading and unloading. The transportation mode can be directly switched between road, railway and water transportation, and the operation is simple and fast, and it is in one step. Can truly achieve “door to door” transportation.

Third, increase security:
Tanker transportation is recognized as the safest method of chemical and food transportation internationally. In the process of distributing chemical products and food to different places, compared with other methods, this is a transportation tool that is unique, runs, leaks, and avoids contamination of the goods themselves.

Fourth, it is more environmentally friendly, more beautiful, and gives customers a good impression:
