The horn is a car’s audio signal device. During the driving process of the car, the driver sends out the necessary acoustic signals according to the needs and regulations to warn pedestrians and draw the attention of other vehicles to ensure the safety of the traffic. It is also used to urge and transmit signals.

The electric horn of a car makes sound by the vibration of a metal diaphragm. Automobile electric horn is composed of iron core, magnetic coil, contacts, armature and diaphragm. When the driver presses the horn switch, the current passes through the coil through the contact. The coil generates magnetic force to suck the armature, forcing the diaphragm to move. The armature moves to open the contact, the current is interrupted, the coil magnetic force disappears, and the diaphragm is elastic and spring. Under the action, it returns to its original position with the armature, the contact closure circuit is turned on again, and the current flows through the coil to generate magnetic force, and the above action is repeated. In this way, the diaphragm is repeatedly vibrated to produce a sound. The sound board is rigidly connected with the diaphragm, which can make the vibration smooth and sound more pleasant (that is, the principle of the electromagnet).

Classification

Car horns are divided into air horns and electric horns according to sound power; they are divided into three types: cylindrical, spiral, and basin-shaped; according to the sound frequency, they are divided into two types: tweeter and woofer.
