Good product, good way

Spark plug

Spark plug, commonly known as the fire mouth, its function is to discharge the pulsed high voltage electricity sent by the high-voltage wire (fire mouth line), penetrate the air between the two electrodes of the spark plug, and generate an electric spark to ignite the mixed gas in the cylinder. The main types are: quasi-type spark plugs, edge-body protruding type spark plugs, electrode type spark plugs, seat type spark plugs, pole type spark plugs, surface spark type spark plugs, etc.

Definitions and materials

The spark plug is an important component of the ignition system of a gasoline engine. It can introduce high voltage electricity into the combustion chamber and cause it to skip the gap between the electrodes to generate a spark, thereby igniting the combustible mixture in the cylinder. It is mainly composed of wiring nut, insulator, wiring screw, center electrode, side electrode and shell. The side electrode is welded to the shell.

Classification

According to the heating value, there are cold and hot types; according to the electrode material, there are nickel alloys, silver alloys and platinum alloys; if more professional, the types of spark plugs are generally as follows:
1. Quasi-type spark plug: its insulator skirt is slightly retracted into the end face of the case, and the side electrode is outside the end face of the case, which is the most widely used type.

2. Edge body protruding spark plug: The insulator skirt is longer and protrudes beyond the end face of the casing. It has the advantages of large heat absorption, good anti-fouling ability, etc., and can be directly cooled by the intake air to reduce the temperature, so it is not easy to cause hot ignition, so the thermal adaptation range is wide.

3. Electrode type spark plug: The electrode is very thin, which is characterized by strong sparks and good ignition ability. It can also ensure that the engine can start quickly and reliably in the severe cold season. The thermal range is wide and it can meet various purposes.

4. Seat-type spark plug: The housing and the screw-in thread are made conical, so a good seal can be maintained without a gasket, which reduces the volume of the spark plug and is more beneficial to the design of the engine.

5. Polar spark plugs: The side electrodes are generally two or more. The advantage is that the ignition is reliable and the gap does not need to be adjusted often. Therefore, it is often used on some gasoline engines where the electrodes are easily ablated and the spark plug gap cannot be adjusted often.

6, surface spark-type spark plug: the surface gap type, it is the coldest type of spark plug, the gap between the center electrode and the housing end face is concentric.

7. Standard and protruding spark plugs.

8. Single-sided and multi-sided spark plugs.

9. Nickel-based alloy and copper-core electrode spark plugs.

10. Ordinary and resistance type spark plugs.

Function and characteristics

In the standard of the spark plug, the heat value is usually used to characterize the thermal characteristics of the spark plug. The spark plug heat value represents the balance of the heat absorption and heat dissipation of the spark plug insulator skirt. The higher the heat value. The stronger the balance between heat absorption and heat dissipation, the lower the thermal value of the hot spark plug and the higher the thermal value of the cold spark plug. Generally, engines with high power and large compression ratios use cold spark plugs with high heating value; on the contrary, engines with low power and small compression ratios select thermal spark plugs with low heat value. In general, the selection of spark plugs is determined by the factory through product stereotype experiments and should not be replaced at will.
