Features

The advantages of the organic solid core potentiometer are that the resistance value is continuously adjustable, the resolution is high (much better than the wire wound resistor), the resistance value range is wide (100Ω ~ 4.7MΩ), the structure is simple, high temperature resistance, small size, long life, reliable High performance, widely used for soldering on the circuit board for fine-tuning; the disadvantage is poor temperature stability, low voltage resistance, and high noise.

①Check the quality of the potentiometer before use. The shaft handle of the potentiometer should be flexible and tight, and there should be no mechanical noise. Check the nominal resistance value with a multimeter, which should meet the requirements. If a multimeter is used to measure the resistance between the fixed end of the potentiometer and the sliding terminal lug, when the potentiometer knob shaft is slowly rotated, the hands should rotate smoothly without jumping.

②Because some parts of the potentiometer are made of synthetic resin such as polycarbonate, do not place in the environment with high concentration of chemicals such as ammonia, amine, alkaline solution and aromatic hydrocarbons, ketones, halogenated hydrocarbons, etc. Used to extend the life of the potentiometer.

③ For potentiometers with grounding pads, the pads must be grounded to prevent external interference.

④Do not use the potentiometer with overload, use within the rated value. When the potentiometer is installed, it should pay attention to the arrangement of adjacent components to ensure that the potentiometer can be adjusted easily without affecting the adjacent components.

⑤ Unsealed potentiometers are most prone to faults with large noise, which are mainly caused by oil pollution and wear. At this time, this problem must not be solved by applying lubricating oil. Instead, lubricating oil will increase the accumulation of internal dust and conductive particles. The correct treatment method is to use a cotton ball dipped in absolute alcohol to gently wipe the dirt on the resistance sheet, and remove the oil on the contact brush and the lead spring.

⑥ When the potentiometer is seriously damaged, a new potentiometer needs to be replaced. At this time, it is best to choose a potentiometer with the same model and resistance as the original potentiometer. Also pay attention to the shaft length and the shape of the shaft end of the potentiometer should match the original knob. If you can’t find the potentiometer of the original model and original resistance, you can replace it with a potentiometer of similar resistance and model. The resistance value of the replacement potentiometer is allowed to change by 20 [[%]]-30 [[%]]. The rated power of the replacement potentiometer is generally not less than the rated power of the original potentiometer. In addition, the replacement potentiometer should also meet the requirements of the circuit and use.
