Master Cylinder

The brake master cylinder is the main control device in the automobile service braking system. It realizes sensitive follow-up control during the braking process and release process of the dual-circuit main braking system.

Definitions and materials

The master cylinder is also called the brake master oil (gas), and its main function is to push the brake fluid (or gas) to the brake cylinders to push the piston.

Classification

The brake master cylinder is divided into two categories: pneumatic brake master cylinder and hydraulic brake master cylinder.

Pneumatic brake master cylinder
Composition: Pneumatic brake master cylinder is mainly composed of upper cavity piston, lower cavity piston, push rod, roller, balance spring, return spring (upper and lower cavity), upper cavity valve, lower cavity valve, air inlet, air outlet, exhaust Mouth, composed of vent holes.
Working principle: When the driver steps on the pedal, the end of the arm is pushed down by the tension spring to move the balance arm downward. The exhaust valve is first closed and the intake valve is opened. The air intake valve is charged into the brake air chamber, and the diaphragm of the air chamber is pushed to rotate the brake cam to achieve wheel braking, thereby achieving the braking effect.

Two-point brake master cylinder
This is a two-stage electromagnetic booster master cylinder that can achieve single-in multiple-out or three-in multiple-out or dual-control parallel type. It contains a pump cover, upper pump body, middle pump body, and lower pump body. An upper piston assembly is provided in the pump cover and the upper pump body, an upper valve assembly and a lower piston assembly and a rear brake air inlet and an air outlet are provided in the middle pump body, and a lower valve assembly and a front brake are provided in the lower pump body. The upper piston sleeve is arranged between the upper piston and the upper pump body, and the inner end of the booster inlet hole communicates with the lower end face of the upper piston sleeve. The valve is in communication with the rear brake air outlet. The air outlet chamber of the upper valve in the middle pump body is connected to the rear brake air outlet, the sealed chamber between the lower end surface of the upper piston and the bottom wall of the upper pump body, or the The sealed chamber between the upper end face of the lower piston sleeve and the top wall of the middle pump body is in communication. This type of brake master cylinder has a simple structure, good use effect, and has both a good voltage stabilization effect and a strong braking effect, and is suitable for a variety of existing vehicle models.

Hydraulic brake master cylinder
Composition: The main matching part of the hydraulic brake master cylinder, which has a tank for storing brake oil on the top, and a piston inside the cylinder.
Working principle: When the driver steps on the foot pedal, the force of the foot will cause the piston in the brake master cylinder to push the brake fluid forward and generate pressure in the oil circuit. The pressure is transmitted to the brake cylinder pistons of each wheel via the brake fluid. The pistons of the brake cylinders push the brake pads outward, causing the brake pads to rub against the inner surface of the brake drum, and generate sufficient friction to reduce the wheel speed. To achieve the purpose of braking.

Use

Pneumatic brake master cylinder is mainly used in trucks (such as heavy goods vehicles, large passenger cars, engineering vehicles) and some agricultural vehicles;

Hydraulic brake master cylinders are mainly used in small cars (such as cars, vans, minivans, minibuses) and some agricultural vehicles.
