The contact system has a special structure, and the distributed capacitance between the disconnecting contact and the contact to the housing is small. The insulating material in the contact system must also be a high-frequency material with a small dielectric loss, such as ceramic material or glass material. The contacts of this type of relay contact system are placed at an angle of about 45 °, 90 ° or 180 ° between the reeds, and the parts of the contact system are small in size. The contact system uses beryllium bronze and silver alloy with better conductivity , Gold alloy, palladium alloy, platinum alloy and other materials, the surface of the parts should be plated with gold, rhodium and other materials.
In addition to the small distributed capacitance of the contact system, the structure of the high-frequency relay must also consider the matching of the characteristic impedance. The structure size should avoid or be far less than 1/4 wavelength of the operating frequency to reduce signal reflection. The structure size here refers to the size of the parts with distributed capacitance between the contact reeds and the parts and assembly sizes connected to them. Because the structure and shape of these parts are generally more complicated, it is possible that a part of them can be folded into a 1/4 working wavelength length short-circuited coaxial cable and become a metal insulator. The metal insulator is short-circuited to the DC signal, but it is insulated at a certain frequency, which greatly reduces the isolation. In addition, 1/4 wavelength resonant cavity can also be formed, which greatly reduces the high-frequency performance of the relay.
