Cooling Tower

Function and characteristics

Countercurrent tower
1. Water in the tower packing, water from top to bottom, air from bottom to top, both flow to the opposite type of cooling tower.
2. The counterflow cooling tower has good thermal performance and is divided into three cooling sections:
① The space from the water distributor to the top of the packing is relatively high, so it can still transfer heat to the air.
② Filler water and air heat exchange section.
③ The filler is poured into the water-sprinkling section of the pool, and the water is cooled in this section, which is called “tail effect”. The counter-flow tower heat exchange process is more reasonable and has higher cooling efficiency.
3. The water distribution system is not easy to be blocked, the water-filling filler is kept clean and difficult to age, the moisture recirculation is small, and anti-freezing measures are easier. Multiple units can be combined for design. In winter, depending on the required water temperature and water volume, a single unit can be combined or all fans can be stopped.

Cross flow tower
1. Water in the tower packing. Water flows from top to bottom, and air flows horizontally from the outside of the tower to the inside of the tower. Commonly used in residential areas with strict noise requirements, it is the cooling cycle tower used more in the air-conditioning industry.
Advantages: energy saving, low water pressure, low wind resistance, low speed motor, no dripping noise and wind noise, convenient maintenance of filling and water distribution system.
2. Multiple foundations can be arbitrarily constructed according to the shape of the building, and single or multiple cooling towers can be started according to the required water temperature.
3. It should be noted that the frame should have more filler volume when heat exchange is 40%, the filler is easy to age, the water distribution holes are easy to block, the anti-icing is not good, and the moisture return is large. The advantages of cross-flow towers are exactly the disadvantages of counter-flow towers.

Unfilled cooling tower

After the water in the tower bottom reservoir is pumped by the circulating pump, it is sprayed out evenly outside the pipe. It is not in contact with the process fluid hot water or refrigerant and the air outside the tube, and becomes a closed cooling tower, which enhances the effect of heat and mass transfer by spraying water.
2. Enclosed cooling tower is suitable for various cooling systems with high requirements on circulating water quality. It has application prospects in power, chemical, steel, food and many industrial sectors. On the other hand, compared with air-cooled heat exchangers, evaporative cooling towers use the latent heat of evaporation of the water under the tubes to significantly enhance heat and mass transfer on the air side, which also has obvious advantages.

Closed cooling tower (also called evaporative air cooler) puts the tube heat exchanger in the tower, and guarantees the cooling effect through the heat exchange of circulating air, spray water and circulating water. Because it is a closed cycle, it can ensure that the water quality is not polluted, which protects the efficient operation of the main equipment and improves the service life.
