Marine gas turbine is an important power device on modern ships. It pressurizes air through a compressor and then enters the combustion chamber. The fuel burns in the combustion chamber to generate high-temperature gas, and then enters the turbine, impacts the blades on the turbine, makes the turbine rotate at high speed, and drives the propeller to work. The gas turbine does not require a boiler, is light in weight, small in size, and high in power, and can be used as the main engine of large ships.
Gas turbines are high-power, high-performance power machines that use air as a medium and rely on high-temperature gas to drive turbomachinery to continuously perform work. It is mainly composed of three major components: compressor, combustion chamber and turbine, and is equipped with air intake, exhaust, control, transmission and other auxiliary systems. When the gas turbine unit is successfully started, the gas turbine will begin to enter a stable thermodynamic cycle process.
Marine gas turbine is also called “ship gas turbine”. A gas turbine used to drive a ship’s propulsion (propeller). Compared with marine diesel engines or steam turbines, it has many advantages such as saving cabin area and quick start, which can improve ship maneuverability, simplify maintenance, and require fewer operators. Marine gas turbines are basically retrofitted with aviation gas turbines. The basic type is a two- or three-axis simple cycle gas turbine, and a steam-gas combined cycle marine gas turbine is also being developed.
