Car generator

Generators are mechanical devices that convert other forms of energy into electrical energy. Generators have a wide range of uses in industrial and agricultural production, national defense, technology and daily life.

Definitions and materials

The car generator is the main power source of the car. Its function is to supply power to all electrical equipment (except the starter) and charge the battery at the same time when the engine is running normally.

Based on the three-phase stator windings of ordinary alternators, increase the number of winding turns and lead out the terminals, and add a set of three-phase bridge rectifiers. At low speed, the original winding and the increasing winding are output in series, and at higher speeds, it is output only by the original three-phase winding.

Classification

Automotive generators can be divided into DC generators and alternators. As alternators are superior to DC generators in many ways, DC generators have been eliminated. AC generators are classified into the following categories according to different classification methods:
1. Divided into five categories according to the overall structure
(1) Ordinary alternator Also known as “silicon rectifier generator” (generator that needs to be equipped with a voltage regulator when in use).
(2) Integral alternator (generator and regulator make a whole generator).
(3) Alternator with pump. (The pump with pump alternator is a vacuum pump, not a vacuum booster pump. The vacuum booster pump is on the car brake system).
(4) Brushless alternator (generator without brush).
(5) Permanent magnet alternator. Generator made of permanent magnets.

2. Divided into four categories according to the rectifier structure
(1) Six-tube alternator.
(2) Eight-tube alternator.
(3) Nine-tube alternator.
(4) Eleven tubes of alternator.

3. Divided into two types according to the form of magnetic field winding ground
(1) Internal ground-type alternator One end (negative pole) of the magnetic field winding is directly grounded (connected to the case).
(2) External ground-type alternator One end (negative pole) of the magnetic field winding is connected to the regulator, and then grounded after passing through the regulator.
