Ignition Switch

Ignition Switch. The ignition system switch (usually using a key) can freely open or close the main circuit of the ignition coil, and it is also suitable for other electrical circuits. Ignition switch is commonly known as master switch, master switch or master key. It is the master gate that controls the whole vehicle circuit system. It has two types of plug-in type and knob type.

Definitions and materials

Ignition Switch. The ignition system switch (usually using a key) can freely open or close the main circuit of the ignition coil, and it is also suitable for other electrical circuits. Ignition switch is commonly known as master switch, master switch or master key. It is the master gate that controls the whole vehicle circuit system. It has two types of plug-in type and knob type.

The ignition switch consists of a key, a key socket, external wires and inserts.

Classification

When the traditional ignition system works, the instantaneous disconnection of the contacts of the disconnector will generate sparks at the contacts and burn the contacts. When the spark plug deposits carbon, it is easy to leak electricity, the secondary pole voltage cannot be increased, and it cannot be reliably ignited, resulting in a high-speed misfire phenomenon. The semiconductor ignition system overcomes these shortcomings and has a strong flashover ability, which makes the ignition reliable.
Electronic ignition systems are broadly divided into the following three categories:
(1) The ignition system composed of non-contact circuit breakers composed of electromagnetic, infrared or Hall components is called a contactless igniter, and its amplification circuit is divided into two types: transistor circuit and capacitor discharge circuit.

(2) The ignition controlled by ECU (Electronic Control Unit) is determined by the microprocessor in the ECU based on the signal from the crank angle sensor. Therefore, it does not have a disconnector, only a distributor, and directly controls the ignition coil according to the signal sent by the ECU. On and off of the primary circuit.

(3) Distributor-Less Ignition is currently the most advanced ignition system. Not only the ignition timing signal, but also the cylinder identification signal sent by the crankshaft sensor, so that the ignition system can reach the designated cylinder. The ignition signal is sent at the specified time. This requires that each cylinder is equipped with an independent ignition coil. However, in the case of a six-cylinder engine, one, six, two, five, and three, four cylinders share one ignition coil. For each ignition coil, it is obvious that when each ignition coil is ignited, there is always a cylinder that is ignited empty. You should pay attention to this when testing.

The non-contact ignition system can use a low-impedance inductance coil, thereby greatly increasing the primary current, making the secondary voltage up to more than 30kV, enhancing the ignition energy to improve the ability to ignite a lean mixture, and improving the fuel economy while reducing exhaust Pollution. The distributorless ignition system is completely electronic and has no mechanical moving parts, which completely solves a series of failures caused by cam and bearing wear and misalignment of contact ablation clearance.

Function and characteristics

When the compression of the gasoline engine is near the top dead center, the combustible mixture is ignited by the spark plug, and the combustion is performed for work. Therefore, the spark plug is installed in the combustion chamber of the gasoline engine. The function of the ignition system is to generate a sufficient amount of electric spark between the two electrodes of the spark plug according to the working order of the cylinder.
